Welcome to the new school
Hako
Tranzito is the year-old collaborative effort of four San Diegans
with a compulsion to create. Though still in their twenties, the
members of Hako share a bond that spans more than two decades. These
grade school blood brothers parted ways after high school to pursue
academia, reconvening in Los Angeles to form an artist collaborative.
They have built a community of high-end designers, artists, musicians
and a regiment of like-minded followers. The Hako Tranzito army
is poised to shake the foundation of current musical and visual
commercial aesthetics into rubble and dust.
Though
often compared to bands such as Radiohead, Coldplay, and the Smashing
Pumpkins, Hako Tranzito boasts an energy and enthusiasm for their
music and live performance that is entirely their own. The band
combines in-your-face hard-hitting rock with beautifully crafted
atmospheric melodies. Hako weaves an intricate tapestry of sound
that originates equally from the id and the superego. Mythic themes
collide unpretentiously with a haunting sound and inspiring delivery.
Though the material is cerebral in nature, a Hako Tranzito show
can be likened to a Bengal tiger moving quietly through the grasslands,
then suddenly ravaging an antelope with furious carnal enjoyment.
Lead
singer and keyboardist Mr. How? makes use of a myriad of sounds,
delivering a performance that is Mozart flashy at one moment then
quietly reverent and mysterious the next. Guitarist Mackeys
furious exuberance for playing live makes for a spectacle of sight
and sound as he attacks his instrument as though he was performing
an exorcism of the soul. Meanwhile, the hard hitting and experimental
rhythm section of Bob on kit and Buttons on bass, thunders through
venues like an M4 flame-throwing tank, stopping only to salute their
progressive and jazz influenced forefathers on the battlefield.
Hako
Tranzito can currently be seen on their west coast tour, promoting
their self-produced EP.
